Storage Storage Storage
Having a small space doesn’t mean all your stuff just disappears. You have to be smarter about how you hide the things you only need every now and then. I have a storage bench under a window that has storage for my fitness gear and I can put shoes on the bottom shelf. Not only is it additional seating, but my cats love to sit on the seat to look out the window. I take extra precaution to protect the leather top from my cats by laying an accent blanket on top.
Add interest and storage to the corners with a wavy corner bookshelf. Get creative with what you store on it, don’t be stuck with keeping a bookshelf just for books.
Small but helpful, combine your counter produce storage with your spice rack. Not only will your produce be contained, but your daily spices in reach. Combining the two will give you more space on your counters.
Walls
Walls can be storage options too. Put up shelving and add baskets to hold smaller items. You can use your whole room for storage. Combine a wall shelf with your lamp and you’ve saved some floor space!
I once had a room with a ledge about a foot from the ceiling that I used to for all of my shoes. It was a small room, but my shoes were displayed along two entire walls.
You may be enclosed by four walls, but don’t let them limit you with what you store inside them.
Organization
Having a small space means that clutter is more obvious. You may feel like you have to clean up every day, but its not you, its the space. Larger rooms mean more for you eyes to look at and look past clutter. Utilize decorative storage bins and baskets to bring more storage but more organization to your space.
Small spaces don’t mean you have to give up decor or even be stuck with the same things. Move your items into other rooms or other spaces to still give yourself the feeling of a new space. Be thoughtful with the decor and storage that you pick. Having only items that you absolutely love will keep you loving the space you are in.
